چکیده

In this paper, a multi-product economic production quantity problem with limited warehouse-space is considered in which the orders are delivered discretely in the form of multiple pallets and the shortages are completely backlogged. We show that the model of the problem is a constrained non-linear integer program and propose a genetic algorithm to solve it. Moreover, design of experiments is employed to calibrate the parameters of the algorithm for different problem sizes. At the end, a numerical example is presented to demonstrate the application of the proposed methodology. 2009 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

A parameter-tuned genetic algorithm for vendor managed inventory model for a case single-vendor single-retailer with multi-product and multi-constraint

This paper develops a single-vendor single-retailer supply chain for multi-product. The proposed model is based on Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) approach and vendor uses the retailer's data for better decision making. Number of orders and available capital are the constraints of the model. In this system, shortages are backordered; therefore, the vendor’s warehouse capacity is another limitati...

Retracted: Using genetic algorithm approach to solve a multi-product EPQ model with defective items, rework, and constrained space

The Economic Production Quantity (EPQ) model is often used in the manufacturing sector to assist firms in determining the optimal production lot size that minimizes overall production-inventory costs. There are some assumptions in the EPQ model that restrict this model for real-world applications. Some of these assumptions are (1) infinite space of warehouse, (2) all of the pr...

A discrete particle swarm optimization algorithm with local search for a production-based two-echelon single-vendor multiple-buyer supply chain

This paper formulates a two-echelon single-producer multi-buyer supply chain model, while a single product is produced and transported to the buyers by the producer. The producer and the buyers apply vendor-managed inventory mode of operation. It is assumed that the producer applies economic production quantity policy, which implies a constant production rate at the producer. The operational pa...

A genetic algorithm approach to optimize a multi-products EPQ model with discrete delivery orders and constrained space

The Economic Production Quantity (EPQ) is one of the most applicable model in production and inventory control environments. Like other classical production and inventory control models, it is derived based upon assumptions that cause limited real-world applications. Continuous and constant-rate delivery of orders, infinite availability of warehouse spaces, and applicability on a single product...
